Muriel Siebert

Muriel Siebert was born in September 12, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was enrolled at Western Reserve University, but did not graduate. Instead, she moved to New York City and began her career on Wall Street in 1954.

In 1967, Siebert became the first woman to hold a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. In 1977, she was named Superintendent of Banks for the State of New York. During her illustrious career, Siebert started her own brokerage firm, Muriel Siebert & Co., Inc., and founded the Siebert Entrepreneurial Philanthropic Plan. In 1994, Siebert was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame.

She died on August 24, 2013, in New York City.
