
Kitty Carlisle Hart

Kitty Carlisle Hart was born Katherine Conn on September 3, 1910, in New Orleans. After her father's death, Carlisle Hart and her mother moved the Europe and she studied at Château Mont-Choisi in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Sorbonne and the London School of Economics. She continued her study of acting in London at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Carlisle Hart was an actress, singer, and activist for the arts. She served 20 years as chair of the New York State Council of the Arts from 1976 to 1996. Carlisle Hart was also a champion for historic preservation.
Kitty Carlisle Hart died in Manhattan on April 17, 2007, at age 96.
