Ideas for Classroom Connections

Divide students into groups of three or four.

Ask them to analyze one of the documents from the factories section of the exhibit using one of the graphic organizers

Each group presents their findings to the rest of the class. 

Each student uses evidence from the document analysis to answer the essential question.

Learning Activity #1

Set up centers using the documents from the child labor section of the industrialization exhibit. 

Ask students to rotate through the centers and analyze the documents using the graphic organizer at each center.

After they complete the centers, students should be able to answer the essential question using evidence from the documents anlaysis.

 

Learning Activity #2

Students analyze 3 of the documents from child labor section of the industrialization exhibit using the graphic organizer.

Using evidence from documents, students write a journal entry from the perspective of a child laborer.
